RSVT is back in session for the semester. It has not yet been determined our schedule for the semetser, but it should be ready soon. Look for a new "schedule" page up on the new site with places to sign up if you are a member of RSVT.-RH

-09.11.08-

UPDATE! RSVT is back in full swing for the 08-09 school year. We just finished up a recording a faculty jazz quartet on 4.10.08 and are looking forward to getting a lot more musical groups into our studio for recording. We will keep the website updated with the newest RSVT happenings so look to the update and news pages for all the latest. We will be having regular meetings starting very shortly, the times of which will be posted on this website as well as sent out over the list serve. If you are interested in coming out to the events, or joining up with the rsvt, contact our RSVT president Jon Utt at uttj@vt.edu. More Updates to follow. -RH

UPDATE! We will be recording a 10 piece wind ensemble at the studio on FRIDAY the 4th from 3pm-8pm. This will be a great opportunity for us to show what we can do as a group and give everyone involved experience in the studio. If you can make all or part of the session please do so. We will use all the help we can get!

-03.22.08-

UPDATE! RSVT will be having a short (40 minute) meeting on WEDS the 26th at 530pm. We will be meeting in Owens on the right hand side (if you are checking out). This will give us a chance to assign some duties and begin working so be sure to make it!

UPDATE! Information Sessions have been postponed until the following Monday and Tuesday night! Be sure to attend ONE of the MANDATORY information session either Moday the 17th or Tuesday the 18th at 8pm! A reminder will be sent out to the listserve later this week.

We are currently accepting ALL general membership interest as well as those interested in a leadership position!

-General Membership: Open to ANY Major! (F/So/J/S) General Members will be able to take on specific projects including band recruitment, session planning, audio recording and post production, web and graphic design, arts marketing, contract management and more! For those interested in General Membership, simply sign up on the Listserve and attend one of the mandatory information sessions (March 10th and 11th at 8pm at the Downtown Studio).

Board of Directors positions available include:

-Student President: Open to Audio Technology Major (J/S) The president will be responsible for overseeing the daily regular operations of the RSVT as well as planning goals and events for the future.

-Vice President: Open to Audio Technology Major (So/J/S) Assists the President in all official matters as well as oversees current projects and events.

-Directors and Assistant Directors of Management, Marketing and Business Affairs: Open to ALL Majors! (So/J/S) Each of the three departments, (Management, Marketing and Business Affairs) will be overseen by a Director/Assistant Director team. These Board members will oversee all responsibilities assigned to their respective department.

I. PARTICIPATION: Thanks to those who have been able to participate in our meetings so far! We have had some good meetings and covered a lot of material. IÌâåÕd like to see a few more people out so I have attached an availability sheet. Please take the time to fill it out and send it to recording@vt.edu to show me that you are interested in participating. We will attempt to make meetings as available as possible.

II. CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS: We have been working on a organizational constitution and Bylaws for the VTRS. This tedious writing is required before we can continue with any projects. So far, five of us have taken on parts of the constitution- but we still would like more input from the rest of the group. If you would like to be involved in the basic formation of the label and have an influence on itÕs goals and structure PLEASE email me NOW and let me know. We will be meeting as a group next Monday. Anyone interested in a leadership position with the label should strongly consider being involved.

III. RECORD LABEL NAME AND LOGO: We are still in pursuit of a good name for the record label. Some good ideas have been submitted but we would like to see a few more. ANYONE wishing to be INVOLVED with the label SHOULD SEND ME AT LEAST ONE IDEA NOW!!! This will be considered as your organizational ÒduesÓ for the semester. It should not take more than a few minutes to think of something!

IV. LONG TERM GOALS: Just as an exciting footnote, here are some of the organizations goals for this semester!

Finalize Bylaws and Organizational Structure by Spring Break (about two weeks from today)

Create Label Name and Image in order to make shirts for the organization and promote awareness through outlets such as WUVT, The CT, 16 Blocks Magazine and others.

Record various local bands for a ÒBest of the ÔBurgÓ sampler CD. This would involve a coordinated effort in recruiting, managing, marketing, recording and producing bands, CDs etc. We would like to showcase the labelÕs abilities with a huge CD release party/concert at a local venue early in Fall Õ08.

So, thanks for reading all the way through! Please email us a Record Label name idea and any interest in helping with the bylaws to let me know you are still interested in the project. Also send us the availability sheet! Again, this record label is what we make of it and we will need all the help we can get. It will be a great asset for Tech as well as a great contribution to your resume and work experience!

Our next meeting will be on Monday the 18th at 8pm in the studio!

We will be having a brief RSVT meeting tonight at the studio at 730pm. For those who cannot make tonight's meeting, I will be sending a follow-up email after the meeting to update you on what we discussed, as well as a short availability survey. For those who can make the meeting, we will being going over some available positions and look at some goals for the organization. Hope to see you there!

I will be updating the page as often as possible for information regarding VTRS meetings and such. We will be having a meeting this Tuesday (01.29.08) at 7:30pm in the Downtown Studio. We will be discussing organizational structure, goals and objectives.
